The Belo Foundation accepts grant requests year-round, and they are processed as they arrive. The review process can take several months. Grants are made to 501(c)(3) organizations or other qualified non-profit entities. The Foundation does not fund event sponsorships nor does it make grants to individuals. Grants typically range in size from $5,000 to $50,000. On rare occasions, larger grants are made. If your grant request meets these guidelines and falls within the Foundation's areas of interest, including geographic location, please follow the process outlined below. Submit your grant request in the form of a letter to Amy M. Meadows. Include with the letter the following background material to support the request: - Brief history and description of the organization
- Copy of most recent IRS tax determination letter
- Description of the request, how it matches the funding interests of the Foundation, including the specific amount and date payment is requested
- Means of ongoing support for organization or project
- List of officers and directors of organization, and those responsible for project, where applicable
Other information may be requested after an initial review of the documentation. Because The Belo Foundation receives more requests than it can possibly fund, it must decline many that are worthwhile. If you are uncertain about whether your request falls within the Foundation's areas of interest, it's best to call the Foundation to discuss your request.
